The Mysterious Secret of the Humiliations, Affronts, and Contempts that Jesus Christ Received

My daughter, the mysterious secret of the humiliations, affronts, and contempts that my most holy Son endured is a sealed book that can be opened and understood only by divine light, as you have experienced, and which has been revealed to you in part, though you write far less than you grasp, for you could never fully express it. Yet, since this book is opened to you in the deepest part of your heart, I wish it to be written there, and that in the knowledge of this living and true example you study the divine science which neither flesh nor blood can teach you, for the world does not know it and is unworthy of knowing it.

This divine philosophy consists in learning and loving the most blessed lot of those who are poor, humble, afflicted, despised, and unknown among the children of vanity. My most holy and most beloved Son established this school in His Church when He preached and proposed to all the eight beatitudes on the mount.

He afterward put this doctrine into practice, like a Master who does what He teaches, when He renewed in His Passion the chapters of this science that He exercised within Himself, as you have written. But although it is set before Catholics and they have this book of life before their eyes, there are very few who enter this school and study in this book; and there is an infinite multitude of fools who are ignorant of this science because they make no effort to be taught it.

Mortals abhor poverty and hunger after riches, without their vanity allowing them to be disillusioned. There is an endless number who let themselves be carried away by anger and vengeance, and who despise meekness. Very few weep for their true miseries, while the number of those who seek earthly consolations is very great; scarcely is there one who loves justice and is not unjust and unfaithful toward his neighbor. Mercy is extinguished, the purity of hearts violated, and peace disturbed; no one wishes to forgive; and far from wanting to suffer for justice’s sake, men use all their efforts to avoid the pains so justly due to them.

This is why, my dearest daughter, there are so very few who are truly blessed and who receive the blessings of my most holy Son and mine. You have many times known the just wrath of the Most High against those who profess the faith, because in the sight of their example and the Master of life, they live almost like unbelievers, and are often worse than they. For it is they who truly despise the fruit of redemption, which they acknowledge and know; they commit evil impiously in the land of the saints, and render themselves unworthy of the remedy that has been placed in their hands with such mercy.
